Much has been written on the 60s and 70s, but they are difficult to “comprehend” for those who haven’t lived them in person. These years can be summed up to important elements of an emerging, revolutionary pop culture.

Strong concepts, expressions, feelings. The impression on the world of art is evident, both in the musical field and in the visual one. In Giacomo Sonaglia’s “surrealist” works of that period, all of this is quite obvious and tangible.

 His works talk clearly. The presentiment of a late expressivity emerges, irruptive and at the same time romantic symbologies, technically and  chromatically treated with extreme preciseness, expressing conflicting feelings, but with a joy that reminds me of “Yellow Submarine”, animated film of the period. A more intimate Sonaglia than the one you can deduct from a quick observation. The philosophies, the periods, the habits change, the sensations in the works remain.
